Using existing City assets and public/private partnerships, the Bojangles/Ovens Area redevelopment will create a destination for a defining amateur sports complex capable of hosting major events. Already a regional destination on the Eastside, planned improvements to the area around Bojangles Arena are intended to create amateur sports attractions for residents and visitors that operate daily, bring additional businesses to the community, and create investment opportunities in the area. The site is envisioned to feature:
- Full size basketball courts adaptable to a variety of configurations and uses
- Hotel and retail, including restaurants
- Structured parking
- Green plaza/open amenity space
Proposed non-bond debt financing for public safety and other municipal facilities ($25 million in 2014).
