Since 1998, the Charlotte International Cabinet and the Office of the Mayor have hosted the Mayor's International Community Awards. This event was created to honor the philanthropic giving and other forms of support that many of Mecklenburg County's foreign-owned firms have given to non-profit organizations in the Charlotte area. Each year, nine companies are nominated and three are chosen as winners, one each in the small, medium, and large company categories.
In addition to foreign-owned firms in the Charlotte region, the Mayor's International Community Awards recognizes three individuals or organizations who have displayed strong leadership and contributed to the development of Charlotte's international community. The three categories for these awards are the Richard Vinroot International Achievement Award, the Patrick McCrory International Entrepreneur Award, and the Global Leader Award. You can learn more about the nomination process and criteria for the awards by following the links at the bottom of the page.
