Carmel Road 2 Sidewalk Project

Carmel Road 2 Sidewalk Project
The project will provide wheelchair ramps at Camilla Drive and the opposing side of Carmel Road with a pedestrian refuge.

What's happened? City staff reviewed the constraints, various design iterations and cost considerations. The decision has been made to move forward with the Carmel Road 2 Sidewalk project as a pedestrian refuge island crossing from Camilla.

What's next?
Design is underway. Construction should begin in November/December 2012.

A Sidewalk Transportation Bond Project

This project will add sidewalk as part of the City’s Capital Investment Fund to provide a safe, efficient and comfortable, pedestrian system to improve the quality of life of its residents, visitors and businesses.

Objective:

The project will improve pedestrian safety by adding wheel chair ramps at Camilla Drive and the opposing side of Carmel Road. Also a pedestrian refuge will be built for crossing Carmel Road. The project limits are from Carmel road to Camilla Drive.

Cost: TBD
Please note that the project cost will include all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
