This project will make improvements to increase pedestrian mobility by providing a great sidewalk network and connectivity to neighborhoods and businesses.

What's next?  City staff is working with engineering designers, Mulkey Engineers & Consultants, to complete the project design and begin preparation for the real estate acquisition phase, while awaiting the State municipal agreement and notice to proceed.

A 2008 Transportation Bond Project

This transportation sidewalk project is being built as part of the City’s Capital Investment Plan to improve the quality of life of its residents, visitors, and businesses.  The project will consist of 6' sidewalk (7' back of curb), typical 8' planting strips, storm drainage, high visibility crosswalks, pedestrian refuge, pedestrian signals and landscaping  (where applicable).

Objectives:

  • Provide a connected pedestrian system.
  • Provide a safe, comfortable sidewalk network with buffers necessary to separate pedestrians from high volume traffic.

The project limits are along Providence Road from Mammoth Oaks Drive to East Barden Road as shown below.

 





Cost:$  1,075,000
Please note that the project cost will include all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
