Mecklenburg Avenue Traffic Calming Project
This project will make improvements to Mecklenburg Avenue to create a better environment for all modes of roadway transportation.

What's happened? City staff is currently finishing the design.

What's next? The bid phase will begin by early October.

‚ÄčThis project will install traffic islands in the form of an impeller chicane and a mini-traffic circle along Mecklenburg Avenue.

Objectives:
  • Calm Traffic
  • Create a more pedestrian friendly Environment.
Through the public input process, the need for traffic calming was identified. City staff has prepared a concept plan in which the neighborhood approves. The design is now complete. The Bid Phase will begin by the end of September.
 
The project limits are from the intersection of The Plaza and Mecklenburg Avenue to just beyond the Intersection of Fort Street and Mecklenburg Avenue.

Please note that this figure includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, signalization, permits, construction, and landscaping.
