A Transportation Bond Project
This Business Corridor Project will bring improvements to Beatties Ford Road from LaSalle Street to I-85.
The improvements will include new and upgraded pedestrian crossings, wider sidewalks, decorative lighting, planting strips with street trees, and new pedestrian refuge islands.
Additional features will include decorative monuments at the Montana/Gilbert intersection, enhanced bus shelters, and reduction in number and/or size of driveway openings.
Finally, the road will be resurfaced and new pavement markings added.
Objectives:
- Implement elements of the West End Land Use and Pedscape Plan
- Incorporate principles of the Business Corridor Revitalization Program to strengthen economic vitality along business corridors and enhance the stabilization of neighborhoods
- Improve the multi-modal function of designated streets and appearance of the streetscape
- Revise traffic signal timing to improve traffic flow
The planned improvements have been presented and discussed with citizens and local businesses throughout the project design period. These discussions have been held at public meetings, neighborhood meetings and at one-on-one meetings with area stakeholders in an effort to develop a package of improvements that are embraced by the area citizens and businesses.
