W.T. Harris and The Plaza

W.T. Harris Blvd and The Plaza
This project will identify, design, and construct improvements at this intersection to enhance conditions for vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclist, and transit users at existing intersections.

What's happened? City staff worked with consultants from Kimley-Horn & Associates to plan and design the improvements.  The project team used the City’s Transportation Action Plan and Urban Street Design Guidelines in combination with comments from citizens, to guide the planning of the project.  Design improvements will include improved medians, lane markings, rationalized speed limits, extended turn lane storage and adjusted curb radii.  Click here to view design details shared in the  presentation and click here to view the project design.

What's next? Construction is complete at the W.T. Harris and The Plaza intersection.  The City appreciates your patience during construction. During the next year, the project will be under the warranty phase.  The final phase of the project will be landscaping, which will begin in fall 2013.

Many intersections are not pedestrians or bicycle-friendly due to a number of factors, such as a lack of pedestrian signals or crosswalks, signal timing issues, excessive crossing distances, absence of sidewalks or wheelchair ramps, absence of bicycle lanes and miscellaneous intersection design features.  This project seeks to improve travel conditions for vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users at the W.T. Harris Boulevard and The Plaza intersection.
