Environmental Assessment (EA)
The Charlotte Streetcar Project Environmental Assessment (EA) is now available (62.5 MB). The document was prepared according to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and is a comprehensive assessment of the environmental effects of the project.
The proposed Charlotte Streetcar Project is a 10-mile, street-running, fixed-guideway system that extends from Rosa Parks Place Community Transit Center on Beatties Ford Road, through downtown Charlotte via Trade/Elizabeth and Hawthorne Streets, to the Eastland Community Transit Center on Central Avenue.
The EA describes the potential effects on transportation, land use, neighborhoods, visual and aesthetic resources, noise and vibration, endangered species, economic development, water resources, air quality, hazardous materials, historic and archeological resources, property acquisitions, safety and security, park and recreation lands, utilities and secondary and cumulative effects.
The EA concludes that the project is not expected to have significant negative effects on the human and natural environment.
