Samuel S. McNinch (1905-1907)

Content2 Public Service: Served one term and Charlotte's Mayor from 1905-1907. Prior to his election to Mayor, McNinch served as an alderman from Charlotte's Fourth Ward. Personal: McNinch was a brick manufacturer and real estate developer. His home is still standing. Located on North Church Street in historic Fourth Ward, the McNinch house has been converted into a restaurant.	Content3

President Theodore Roosevelt visited Charlotte
The Brevard Street Library opened in 1905 for Charlotte's black residents.
Mercy Hospital, a 25-bed hospital, was founded by the Catholic Sister of Mercy. Its original located was at the corner of First Street. It later moved to Fifth Street. In 1990 Mercy Hospital became a part of the Carolina Health System.
Silent movie theaters opened.
The number of Charlotte aldermen increase to 22, elected from Charlotte's 11 wards.
