The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program addresses housing needs of persons with HIV/AIDS and their families. The program consists of supportive services, tenant based rental assistance, resource identification, and short-term rent, mortgage and utility payments.
HOPWA is a regional program serving Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. The program, administered by the
Carolinas CARE Partnership, formerly the Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium, serves the Charlotte Metropolitan Statistical Area. This area includes Cabarrus, Gaston, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Union, and York Counties.
