Model Energy Efficient Home Featured at Open House Event as
the City Celebrates First ReHouse Project

The City of Charlotte, Habitat Charlotte, Goodwill Industries and Lowe’s Companies have come together to complete a unique renovation of a vacant foreclosed home in the Villa Heights community. The home was donated by the City to Habitat and was transformed into a model home to showcase energy efficiency practices in the affordable housing sector. Energy Star rated products and materials have been used throughout, including special roofing, siding, low-flow water fixtures, compact fluorescent lighting and drought-resistant landscaping.

Officials from the City of Charlotte, Lowe's Companies (the project's major sponsor), Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas will join Habitat, Goodwill and Villa Heights residents during a ribbon cutting ceremony event on Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m. Following sponsor and media tours, the ReHouse will be open to the public from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday February 18 and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday February 19.
