Microbrewery Text Amendment

The purpose of the study is to get a better understanding of microbreweries as a use and any secondary impacts they may have on residential, retail, industrial or any adjacent uses.

The intent is to:

• Explore development standards and regulations in other communities.

• Engage neighborhood participation.

• Explore regulations and guidelines in the districts where alcoholic beverage manufacturing is currently permitted (I-1 and I-2 zoning districts).

• Determine if the use is appropriate in other districts.

The public kick-off meeting was held on January 8, 2013. During the first
part of this meeting, staff provided background information and described the
process that will be used to determine what modifications are needed to the
Charlotte Zoning Ordinance for defining a microbrewery.
