Cutting Pollution When It Counts!

     temporary (episodic) controls for ozone

Mecklenburg County citizens have been exposed routinely to unhealthy ozone levels for over 20 years every summer and was designated an a "non-attainment" area by the USEPA on April 15, 2004. Even though ozone levels have improved and are predicted to continue to improve, Mecklenburg County    ozone levels remain 15% over the national health based ozone standard. Ozone especially hurts a sensitive population of the young and elderly representing 220,000 people in Mecklenburg County.

We can reduce ozone levels, the number of code orange and red days (episodes) by synchronizing our emission reduction activities with the predicted ozone exceedance days  - cutting pollution when it counts!
