About the LME

The Mecklenburg County Local Management Entity (LME) has the responsibility of monitoring all providers of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse services in accordance with rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (MH/DD/SAS).

Provider Relations

The purpose of Provider Relations is to provide monitoring and technical assistance for compliance with contractual and agreement requirements.

Quality Improvement

The Quality Improvement Division assists the Local Management Entity (LME), the Provided Services Organization (PSO) and MeckCARES to continuously improve services to consumers. Core elements involved with the quality improvement process are:

Access and Services: Do consumers have access to the care and service they need?  Does Area Mental Health resolve grievances quickly and fairly?
Qualified Providers: Are the qualifications and credentials of all providers checked carefully?
Staying Healthy: Helping consumers to maintain good health and avoid illness.
Getting Better: How well do the LME, the PSO and MeckCares care for consumers when they become sick?
Living with Illness: How well does the LME, the PSO and MeckCares help consumers to manage chronic illness?
