Board Committees
At its
Strategic Planning Conference in February, the Board of County Commissioners discussed its policy regarding Board committees. They agreed to reduce the number of standing committees to two and address future issues as a full board during budget/public policy meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Staff revised
the committee policy and it was presented to the Board March 6. After further discussion, the Boad voted to keep the current committee set-up and asked staff to revise the formal policy. It will be presented at a future BOCC meeting.
Revaluation
More than a hundred property owners from Cornelius and surrounding areas packed the chamber to speak to the Board about the revaluation process. The Board waived its rules regarding the length of time speakers could address the body and allowed everyone to speak. Since the comments came during the Public Comment portion of the agenda, the Board is not allowed to take questions or respond to the speakers. Chairman Cogdell read an
email from Tax Assessor Garrett Alexander that promised another review of the procedure for valuing properties along Lake Norman.

YMCA Partnership
The Board approved during the consent agenda, a partnership with the YMCA of greater Charlotte that has the Y building
a multi-use indoor facility at the County-owned Park Road Park. The facility will be used by both the YMCA and the County and would be leased to the YMCA for 50 years.
