County Assessor Recruitment
Interim County Manager Bobbie Shields provided an update to the Board on the recruitment of a new tax assessor. The County is using an outside agency to identify qualified candidates for the job. Interviews will be held later this summer and a decision is expected to be made by early fall. Shields is serving as interim tax assessor (in addition to his job as interim manager) during the process.
The Board received its monthly financial update from MeckLINK and also voted to establish a transition committee in response to Senate Bill 208 which will require MeckLINK to operate as a separate area mental health authority effective January 1, 2014.
NC FAST (Families Accessing Services through Technology)
The Board received an update on the implementation of NC Fast in Mecklenburg County. NC FAST is a program designed to improve the way the NC Department of Health and Human Services and county departments of social services do business. NC FAST introduces new technological tools and business processes that will enable workers to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time assisting families.
County Assessor's Office - Hiring of Subject Matter Expert
The Board voted to approve a proposed scope of work for Debbie King to assist the Assessor's Office in daily functions while a new assessor is being recruited. The Board also granted Interim County Manager Bobbie Shields the ability to negotiate a contract with King to fulfill the scope of work.
