The Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office is located in the Hal Marshall Center at 700 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.
All commercial and residential plan reviews are processed through the code enforcement division, which includes the Fire Marshal's Office.

The Fire Marshal's Office reviews construction plans for new commercial buildings, upfits, and additions to existing commercial buildings that are located within incorporated towns in Mecklenburg County. Plan reviews for buildings and projects located in the unincorporated areas of Mecklenburg County fall within the Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) of the Charlotte Fire Department and are reviewed by their plan reviewers.
Plans or Shop Drawings for fire alarms and sprinkler systems should be submitted directly to the Fire Marshal's Office and should not be submitted to code enforcement. For more information on our shop drawing program, click on the link located below.
