Domestic Violence Data Warehouse

The following is a list of Mecklenburg County Departments and community partner agencies that provided data and have assisted in the Domestic Violence Index.

Law Enforcement Agencies & Courts   View Data

Data description:  Data includes the number of domestic violence calls or 
        reports filed with each of the following departments/offices. Please see data for 
        details. Reporting includes the following agencies:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department 
Cornelius Police Department 
Huntersville Police Department
Matthews Police Department
Mint Hill Police Department 
Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office
Pineville Police Department
26th Judicial District Court

Mecklenburg County Health Department   View Data  

Data Description: Data is collected from the Youth Risk Behavior Surveys (YRBS) conducted at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) and includes the number of participants and the percentage of participants who responded positively to at least one of the two domestic violence-related questions. 

Question #1: During past 12 months did your boyfriend or girlfriend ever hit, slap, or physically hurt you on purpose?

Question #2: Have you ever been forced to have sexual intercourse when you did not want to?

Domestic Violence Service Providers   View data

            Mecklenburg County Community Support Services Women's Commission 

           Data Description: Data includes the number of clients served in 
           the Women's Commission Division's adult victim, child witness and teen, and
           offender programs. Information includes knowledge improvement rates for child
           and victim services and recidivism rate for its offender program and rate of
           adult victims who reported to feeling safer after receiving services.

Safe Alliance (formerly United Family Services)

Data Description: Data includes the number of adult victims served, the percentage of clients who established a safety plan/felt safer, and knowledge improvement rates of shelter residents.

Youth and Family Services Division 

Data Description: Data includes the number of child protective services reports made where domestic violence was a factor for acceptance and the percentage of cases substantiated or recommended for services where domestic violence was a factor.
