Request for Proposal Affordable Supportive Housing

Supportive Housing Funds

In an effort to best meet the housing needs of families with children who are homeless, and individuals and families who are chronically homeless, Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte and the Charlotte Housing Authority have partnered to offer supportive housing funds. Through this Request for Proposals (RFP) effort posted Dec. 18, 2013, the Collaborative Partners offer:

  • Rental Assistance
  • Supportive Services
  • Development Funding

The coordinated RFP provides a streamlined process for the Collaborative Partners -- all members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing -- to review applications and determine organizations most qualified to meet the supportive housing needs of this extremely vulnerable population.

Interested applicants can attend an information session on Jan. 6, 2014, where representatives from the Collaborative Partners will talk about the RFP and answer questions.

The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners voted to appropriate $1.3 million in the County's Fiscal Year 2014 General Fund for housing stability and supportive services funds. The provision is part of the County's effort in the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness. For the purposes of this RFP, the County's Community Support Services Department is making available $800,000 of that amount over two to three fiscal years.
