We work to create a community that supports veterans, brings an end to homelessness, and prevents community and domestic violence. Community Support Services is a department in Mecklenburg County's Health and Human Services Agency.
Created in 2006 to combine several established programs, CSS works closely with nonprofit agencies, foundations, local, state and federal government, civic groups, educational institutions and the business community.
The department also works with three advisory boards with membership appointed by the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and the Charlotte City Council. The three boards are the Housing Advisory Board of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (formerly the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Coalition for Housing), the Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Advisory Board, and the Mecklenburg County Women's Advisory Board.
Mission: Community Support Services transforms lives and community by supporting veterans, ending homelessness, treating substance use, and preventing and intervening in community and domestic violence.
Vision: To be the innovative leader in providing veteran services, and in preventing and intervening to end homelessness, substance use, community and domestic violence.
