Charges for City Procurement Services to be Eliminated from the FY2017 Budget
Historically, the City of Charlotte has provided procurement services for the County. These services were outlined in the Consolidated Shared Programs Joint Undertaking Agreement (“Joint Agreement”) and the FY2016 budget included $773,000 for the County’s share.
Mecklenburg County’s new procurement division will be fully operational by June 30, 2016. Therefore, the FY2017 County budget will reflect this change and the budgeted expense for City procurement services will be eliminated. The County will, however, continue selling used vehicles and equipment through the City auctions in FY2017.
Gross auction sale receipts will be netted by the City for direct expenses and overhead at the time of sale. These changes will be formalized through an amendment to the Joint Agreement. County Adoption Conference Being Held This Week
The 4th Annual Mecklenburg County Adoption Conference is set for this Friday, April 22 in the Hilton Charlotte University Place at 8629 JM Keynes Drive. The event will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature more than 20 speakers, including DSS Deputy Director Rodney Adams, YFS Director Charles Bradley and Sr. Social Services Manager Tammera Nelson.
This is a great event and I’d like to commend the dedicated group at DSS/YFS for working tirelessly to find forever homes for the children who need them.
