Two years ago, we hosted several community events and launched a special website to commemorate the 250th birthday, or Sestercentennial, of Mecklenburg County. Now, our unique way of preserving our history is being recognized at the national level.
Earlier this month, the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard University selected our Mecklenburg 250 campaign as part of the 2015 Bright Ideas program.
Candidates for the award come from all levels of government—school districts; county, city, state, and federal agencies; as well as public-private partnerships—that are at the forefront in innovative government action.
