The County is actively searching for advisory board applicants for the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) to fill 10 vacancies later this month. We are working to build interest in the positions through postings on our website and in social media.
Membership of the JCPC should include a person under the age of 18, a member of the faith community and a substance abuse professional. We are specifically seeking eligible applicants for these positions. Other general public membership spots are open and also need applicants.

In 2015, the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners approved its revised Community Vision summarized by the tag line: "Mecklenburg County will be a community of pride and choice for people to Live, Learn, Work, and Recreate."
The four tenets of the Community Vision helped set the groundwork for the County’s Corporate Strategic Business Plan to include goal areas, outcomes, key performance indicators and key initiatives for FY2017-FY2019.
The Corporate Strategic Business Plan, which was just recently completed, reflects the County’s most important work for the next three years and considers the organizational and community priorities.
The five goal areas include:

I would like to invite commissioners and the public to the grand opening for phase II of the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews. Festivities take place on Saturday, June 17 beginning at 5 p.m., and include live music, kids’ activities and much more. Following the event, the facility will host a soccer game featuring the Charlotte Independence beginning at 7 p.m.
The Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews, which first opened in 2013, includes nine synthetic turf fields, two grass fields and a 2,500-seat grass stadium. All fields are multipurpose fields that can accommodate a variety of sports such as soccer, lacrosse, football, field hockey and rugby. The sportsplex also serves as a regional park with two playgrounds, shelters and walking trails.
