County Preparing to Add a New Child Abuse Telephone Hotline

County staff from IT Business Process Management and DSS Youth & Family Services have started creating a new process for receiving public reports of child abuse and neglect. It will include a new phone number that is targeted to go into service this summer. The current 336-CARE hotline will continue to be utilized for reports of abuse and neglect against adults.

These changes have been recommended through our partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Last year, the Care Line received more than 40,000 phone calls.

I will continue to update you on the progress of the new hotline as we work through the process.

For more information about our planning for the new CPS Hotline, contact DeLisa Tolbert at 980-314-2172 or DeLisa.Tolbert@mecklenburgcountync.gov.

BOCC Newsletter to be Released This Week

Mecklenburg County will publish the next Board of County Commissioners Newsletter on Wednesday, May. 24.
This quarterly online publication allows commissioners to post stories regarding activities in their districts.

Residents can subscribe to the newsletter here.

The newsletter will include news, photos and links about events, and general district activities -- not campaign information. Links will also be provided to commissioners’ social media pages.

For more information, please contact LaShonda Hart at 980-314-2906 or LaShonda.Hart@MecklenburgCountyNC.gov.
