2011 Strategic Planning Conference Update
Board members will recall that we have scheduled the Strategic Planning Conference (SPC) for January 26-28. Given the scope of issues to be discussed, we are planning for two full days on Wednesday and Thursday, with and one half-day on Friday.
The SPC will be held at Charlotte Museum of History on Shamrock Drive. The location, directions, meeting agenda and schedule, and support materials will be provided to the Board in advance of the SPC.
The agenda format will be similar to last year’s SPC. This includes providing the Board with the context in which key decisions will be made, such as economic conditions and forecasts, current budget information, and insights into the state budget. In addition, we will provide the Board with data staff has gathered on key issues of concern and interest among Mecklenburg residents (via survey and community meetings) as well as County management and staff. We also will provide the Board with additional background information such as the FY2010 Performance Report that will be presented to the Board at its January 19 regular meeting. A significant portion of the SPC will be dedicated to discussion by the Board to identify the key strategic issues and decisions we will face in the coming fiscal year and beyond. We also will follow up on the Board’s retreat in October with next steps regarding capital infrastructure planni ng and budgeting as well as the operating budget.
Board members with questions about the SPC should contact Hyong Yi at 704-336-6945 or Hyong.Yi@MecklenburgCountyNC.Gov.
