​Medicare Retiree Open Enrollment 2017

This page is designed to inform you of the 2017 health insurance open enrollment period.  

This year brings changes for current employees and non-medicare retirees.  Medicare retirees will experience no change in coverage for 2017.  The County will remain with CIGNA in 2017.  Features and rates of 2017 are including in this mailing.  The coverage effective date is January 1, 2017. 

As context, current employees and Non-Medicare retirees have a choice for the 2017 coverage year – a traditional Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) option or a Health Savings Account (HSA) option. Non-medicare retirees have been invited to education sessions to learn more about the 2017 choices.  Medicare retirees may attend the sessions to learn more about the changes, but Medicare retirees are not affected.

 

Details & Key Dates:

  • The 2017 rate schedule is listed below and can also be downloaded and printed here.
  • There is no need to enroll in coverage for 2017 unless you want to make a change (such as add or delete a family member or waive coverage). Contact the Employee Services Center to obtain the 2017 enrollment/change form. Once you receive the form, complete it and return to the Employee Services Center by November 4, 2016.
  • If you do choose to OptOut/Waive your coverage beginning in 2017, the County will reimburse you the monthly premiums you have paid for other coverage up to the maximum that the County would pay for your coverage under the CIGNA plan.  Remember that once you leave the County sponsored plan, you cannot return to it.
  • You will not receive a new card for 2017 unless you make a change.
  • Remember that your election for 2017 cannot be changed during the year without a qualified Family Status Change.  It is your responsibility to notify the Employee Services Center within 31 days of a Family Status Change (i.e. marriage, graduation of child, divorce, death, etc.) if a dependent needs to be dropped or added.
