 The Communicable Disease Nurse with a focus on child care is a resource to child care providers for the prevention and control of communicable disease in the child care setting. The nurse plays an active role in the investigation of communicable diseases when they occur in child care and works closely with Environmental Health in areas of sanitation. An important function is the monitoring of care facilities for immunization compliance by auditing the state's Annual Immunization Report.
