Youth Tobacco Use Prevention
This program aims to prevent teen tobacco use initiation and provide cessation classes to teen tobacco users.

Activities include:
  • advocacy and training for community advisory boards of youth ages 12-18
  • promoting tobacco prevention curriculum integration in the local school system
  • peer education sessions
The initiative includes use of spit tobacco and programs for specific demographic groups i.e. Hispanic teen peer education and promotion of cessation among pregnant teens. The program is funded by a grant from the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund.
