Master Composters Training Program

Mecklenburg County Composts
Our mission is to educate the public about Mecklenburg County's efforts to reduce residential waste.

So what is the Mecklenburg County Master Compost Training Program?

It is a free 40 hour training program that is open to the residents of Mecklenburg County. Applicants must have completed the County's Basic Home Composting Workshop and/or have a working knowledge of composting. In return for the training, students are required to give back 20 hours of volunteer time to Mecklenburg County’s Waste Reduction program and its projects. Past projects include developing school compost gardens, and providing under-served neighborhoods with residential recycling training.

For more information about the program, contact Mecklenburg County Solid Waste by E-mail or call 980-314-3859.
