​​Solid Waste and Recycling Ordinances and Regulations


 
Source Separation Ordinance (Business R​​ecycling Ordinance)  - In order to reduce the amount of garbage entering the landfill, increase recycling and conserve natural resources, Mecklenburg County appointed a task force of business leaders to develop a mandatory source separation ordinance for corrugated cardboard and office paper. The Ordinance was subsequently adopted by Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte, and the Towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mint Hill and Pineville. The Ordinance became effective January 1, 2002.

Solid Waste Fee Ordina​nce  - The Mecklenburg Fee Solid Waste Fee Ordinance provides a listing of fees for identified services at the Full Service Recycling Centers, Compost Central and the Foxhole Landfill. It also details product cost for mulch and compost sold at County Yard Waste Facilities.
