Explorer Post # 224

The Exploring program is a division of the Boy Scouts of America, pairing young adultsExplorer Post #224 ages 14 to 20 with a community based sponsor in their desired career field. This opportunity gives the young adult a chance to examine their proposed career from the inside out. The Sheriff's Explorer Post #224 assists future leaders learning about law  enforcement, and particularly the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

The post operates under a set of  General Orders, which are much like those that Sheriff's Office employees must follow. In addition, the post operates under a strict Chain of Command with a rank structure and organization of squads similar to the Sheriff's Office.

We strive to provide our Explorers with the skills they will need for a law enforcement career through hands-on experience and classroom instruction.

The Explorer Post delivers stuffed bears to the surrounding hospital pediatric wards for children unable to be home for the holidays.
