Inmates in Mecklenburg county Jails are allowed one thirty-minute visit per week. Two adults and one child or one adult and two children may visit at any one time. Adults must be 16 years of age or older and must provide proper identification such as: valid driver’s license, passport, DMV Special ID, or Military ID. The Matricula Consular card is also considered a valid ID. A visitor is not subject to an immigration status check unless it is determined the person has outstanding criminal warrants and is arrested.
In order to acclimate inmates into the routine of the facility, inmates will not be allowed visitation privileges for the first 48 hours of their incarceration.
To determine an inmate’s visitation day, click on inmate inquiry and type in the person’s name. Under the mugshot, you will see the word housing, which will include the facility abbreviation (MCJC = Jail Central or MCJN = Jail North) and a set of letters, or numbers that will represent the housing unit or POD the person is housed in. An inmate’s visitation day can be found by matching the first two numbers or letters immediately following the facility’s abbreviated name (example: MCJC-35-00-01 or MCJN-HC-00-23) to the visitation schedule.
Listed below are the scheduled visitation hours and days for Jail North and Jail Central. Because of limited visitation booths at Jail Central, evening visitors may be denied a visit prior to 11:00 to accommodate those already in line; however, we will make every attempt to allow visits when we can.
