In 1988 I was Camp Director at the Harris YMCA's Camp Adventure on the Queens College campus. Every other Friday we would make the long walk (according to the campers) down Wellesley Ave. to Freedom Park where the kids could really let loose. At that time the train (on the East Blvd side of the park) was open for climbing. The kids also enjoyed the rocket ship and the plane. We all had a great time. I later went to work for the Park and Recreation Department and had an office in Freedom Park. The rocket ship and plane are gone but the train is still there. Kids climb on it every day!
