Charlotte, NC – Water is a precious natural resource and those who work hard to protect it deserve special recognition. If you know a person, organization or business that goes the extra mile to conserve water, nominate them for a
2002 Blue Thumb Award. The awards are part of National Drinking Water Week, May 5 – 11, 2002.

The Blue Thumb Awards are sponsored by the American Water Works Association and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Water Quality Coalition, which consists of eight state and local agencies. The awards recognize the outstanding efforts of businesses, industries, organizations, schools and citizens in the area of water resource conservation, protection and education. Examples include service projects, volunteer work, education, activism, improved processes, innovative design, sensitive land protection, and many other contributions.
The nomination deadline is Thursday, April 25, 2002. The awards will be presented during the kick off celebration for National Drinking Water Week at Oaklawn Elementary School, May 6, 2002. For more information, contact
