BURNING BAN LIFTED
AT MECKLENBURG COUNTY PARKS AND NATURE PRESERVES
Charlotte, NC – In time for Labor Day cookouts and activities, the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department has lifted the burning ban at Mecklenburg County parks and nature preserves. The affected sites are: · Latta Plantation and Nature Preserve, 5226 Sample Road, Huntersville
· McDowell Nature Preserve, 15222 Highway 49 South, Charlotte
· Reedy Creek Nature Preserve, 2900 Rocky River Road, Charlotte
· Idlewild Road Park, 10512 Idlewild Road, Charlotte
During the burning ban, park visitors have been prohibited from using grills, fire rings at campgrounds, and related amenities at these locations due to the excessively dry conditions. While the severe drought conditions linger, recent precipitation and lower temperatures have been sufficient to lift the ban.
