BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING, ELECTORNIC TOWN MEETING, REMEMBERING THOSE WHO LIBERATED FRANCE HIGHLIGHT JUNE MECKLENBURG FORUM
Charlotte, NC-With Commissioners scheduled to adopt a budget June 18, the public weighs in on what the County's priorities should be in several ways this month on Mecklenburg Forum.
The monthly newsmagazine is led by highlights from the nearly 100 citizens who spoke at the Board's Budget Public Hearing. Just prior to that, the Board held an Electronic Town Meeting that allowed public input via phone calls and e-mails.
Shifting gears, Mecklenburg Forum also takes viewers to a touching celebration to honor those veterans who helped liberate France in World War II. Dozens packed the meeting chamber to witness the ceremony, which was conducted by the French government.
Also this month, Mecklenburg County Jail Central Annex was officially dedicated, including the new Anthony Stancil Conference Center named for the former deputy who was slain in the line of duty.
Mecklenburg Forum cameras were also there for the Children's Summit. Months in the making, the event pulled together those who work to help the most vulnerable in our community.
Mecklenburg Forum airs Thursday nights at 7 p.m. on The Government Channel, Time Warner Cable 16. It can also be seen just prior to regularly scheduled Board of County Commission meetings at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The show also airs June 9 at 3:30 p.m. on WTVI TV-42, Time Warner Cable 5.
