PUBLIC INVITED TO ASSIST IN PLANNING OF
LITTLE SUGAR CREEK GREENWAY
GREENWAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 19, 20
Charlotte, NC – To create what may become one of Mecklenburg County’s defining landmarks, planning and design is currently underway for the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. In order to hear what Mecklenburg County citizens think of the greenway master plan and to collect ideas from potential users, a two-day community workshop is scheduled.
The workshop will take place August 19 – 20, 2002. The public is invited to stop by anytime between 7:30am – 6:30pm to discuss the plan with its designers, ask questions, and provide feedback. A brief presentation and discussion will take place at 6:30pm on both days. For the convenience of those with comments, the workshop will be held at two locations:
· August 19: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East Fourth Street, Room 270 (parking is available in the Davidson Street parking garage)
August 20: William R. Davie Park Conference Center, 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road.
The Little Sugar Creek Greenway will eventually cut a 12.5-mile swath of green from Cordelia Park in north Charlotte to the South Carolina border. It will allow walkers, runners, bikers, rollerbladers, etc. to travel up and down the banks of Little Sugar Creek, enjoying everything that nature has to offer. It will also provide a sanctuary for the many species of wildlife that call Mecklenburg County home.
The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and the Stewardship Advisory Council are hosting the workshop. For directions or additional information, citizens can call 704-336-3854 or check the Web site
