COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

Charlotte, N.C.-Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.  This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Department.

The Health Department clinics will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28 and Friday, November 29.  Evening Clinic for the week will be on Monday, November 25, for both Health Department clinics.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (336-CARE or 336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Main Library and Library branches will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and open normal operating hours on Friday, November 29.  Please note that all libraries will be closing at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27.

Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All Solid Waste Management departments - administrative and operation - will be closed on November 28 and 29.  All staffed recycling centers, the Foxhole Landfill, and Compost Central will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, and open November 29 on a normal schedule.  

The Park and Recreation Department's administrative offices are closed on November 28 and 29.  The parks will be open on a normal schedule on November 28 and 29.  The recreation and nature centers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and open on Friday, November 29.  The Aquatic Center and Ray's Splash Planet will be closed on November 28 and open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on November 29.
