COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR'S DAY

Charlotte, N.C.-Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25, for Christmas and on Wednesday, January 1, for New Year's Day.  This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Engineering & Building Standards Department.

The Health Department clinics will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 , Wednesday, December 25, and  for New Year's Day on Wednesday, January 1.

Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Services Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (336-CARE or 336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Main Library and library branches will be closed on December 24 and 25 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year's.  Please note that all libraries will close at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday,  December 31.

All Solid Waste Management administrative offices and metal recovery will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1.  Recycling and yard waste facilities will be open Monday, December 23 and closed on December 24, 25, and January 1.  Compost Central will be open 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on December 24, closed on December 25 and open 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on January 1.  The Foxhole Landfill will be open 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on December 24 and closed on December 25 and January 1.   

The Park and Recreation Department's administrative offices will be closed on December 24 and 25 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year's Day.  All park facilities will be open regular hours December 24, open at 1:00 p.m. on December 25, and operate regular hours on January 1.  All recreation centers will operate holiday hours on December 24 (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), be closed on December 25, and operate holiday hours on December 31 and January 1.  Nature Centers will operate holiday hours on  December 24, be closed on December 25, and operate holiday hours on December 31 and January 1.  The Aquatic Center and Ray's Splash Planet will operate holiday hours on December 24, be closed on December 25, and operate holiday hours on December 31 and January 1 (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
