5TH ANNUAL CITY WIDE KWANZAA CELEBRATION

Charlotte, NC -  Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department and The Nubian Rootz  Cultural Center are sponsoring the 5th Annual City Wide Kwanzaa Celebration, December 26, 2002-December 31, 2002.  This annual celebration commemorates African heritage through 7 principles of building and sustaining family and community values. The 7 values are: Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith.

These celebrations will be highlighted with traditional African drumming and dancing by Gerry Chisolm and the Nubian Rootz African Dance Ensemble, and special guests. These events are free and open to the public.
