COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR LABOR DAY

Charlotte, NC - Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, September 2 for Labor Day. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Register of Deeds Office, the Elections Office and administrative offices of the Land Use and Environmental Services Department.

The Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to report suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Health Department clinics will be closed Labor Day.

The Public Library's main branch and all other branches will be closed on Monday, September 2.

Solid Waste Management administrative offices will be closed on September 2 for the Labor Day holiday. Compost Central will be open on September 2. The Foxhole Landfill, Recycling Centers, and Metal & Tire Recovery facilities will be closed on Monday, September 2.

Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Labor Day, September 2. All other facilities will be open. September 2 will be the last day of operation for outdoor pools for the 2002 season. The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Labor Day.
