COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR
MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 27

Charlotte, N.C.-- Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on May 27, for Memorial Day. This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Department.

The Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (336-CARE or 336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to report suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Health Department clinics will be closed on Monday, May 27.

The Public Library's main branch and all other branches will be closed on Monday, May 27.

Solid Waste administrative offices and The Foxhole Landfill will be closed Memorial Day, May 27. All other facilities, including the Recycling Center, Compost Central, and the Metal and Tire Recovery Facility will operate a normal Monday schedule.

Park and Recreation administrative offices are closed on May 27. However, County parks, recreation centers, and The Nature Centers will be open on Memorial Day. The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will also be open on Memorial Day, but will be operating on "holiday hours" which are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Outdoor pools will be open 12-5 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 1-6 p.m. Sunday, May 26, and 1-7 p.m. on Memorial Day.
