COUNTY’S MOVERS AND SHAKERS HAVE CHANCE TO FACE OFF ON THE FIELD
Charlotte, NC – The next Olympic summer games won’t be held until 2004 in Athens, Greece. But if your office has a taste for big competition and big fun, join us for
Ray’s Corporate Challenge
, an Olympiad featuring “athletes” from Charlotte’s business and professional communities.
Ray’s Corporate Challenge will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on
October 19, 2002, at Memorial Stadium, 310 North Kings Drive, Charlotte. The Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is currently recruiting teams and volunteers for the Challenge. The Challenge gives everyone an opportunity to learn team-building skills and test their competitive spirit in a variety of track-and-field events.
The 5
th annual Challenge will include a relay race, obstacle course, putt-putt, basketball, softball, jump rope and -- as a grand finale-- a TUG-OF-WAR. Each team will field eight athletes and two back-ups. First, 2
nd and 3
rd place teams will all receive trophies. Money raised through registration fees and sponsorships will go to the Partners for Parks Foundation to provide summer camp scholarships to economically disadvantaged youths throughout the Charlotte area.
