Charlotte, N.C.-- Non-essential Charlotte City and Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Friday, July 4 for Independence Day.
For the Ciy of Charlotte:
There will be no changes in garbage/trash/recycling collection on the 4th. CATS buses will operate on a Sunday schedule with no express services.
For the County:
All units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Office will be closed. The Health Department clinics will be closed on Friday, July 4. The Main Library and all library branches will be closed on Friday, July 4.
Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Department of Social Services Care Line (704-336-CARE or 704-336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.
All Solid Waste Management's administrative offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4 except for Compost Central, the Metrolina Recycling Facility, and the Speedway Landfill which will be open normal operating hours. Compost Central will also be open, but hours of operation will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Park and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 4. All other County parks and recreation centers will be open normal hours on July 4, including the Nature Centers. The Aquatic Center and Marion Diehl pool will operate on holiday hours which are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Ray's Splash Planet will operate on holiday hours 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Outdoor pools will be open regular hours.
