REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE: FUN FAIR AT MCDOWELL NATURE CENTER

Charlotte, NC - Reduce, reuse and recycle. These three words are the wave of the future as Mecklenburg County's population continues to grow and landfill space shrinks.

On Saturday, November 8, 2003, learn more about recycling and waste reduction at Mecklenburg County's "Reduce, Reuse Recycle Fun Fair." It's a FREE, family-oriented event from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at McDowell Nature Center, 15222 York Road in Charlotte.

There will be music, games, crafts, interactive exhibits, and a hybrid gasoline/electric car. You can learn about reducing, reusing and recycling, and close the loop by purchasing more products made from recycled materials. Pamlico Joe will provide musical entertainment.

During the fair, Mecklenburg County will collect old household batteries and used eyeglasses for recycling. Participants can also bring gently worn coats to be donated to Crisis Assistance Ministry.

The "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Fun Fair" is presented by Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Management and the Park & Recreation Department. For more information, call 704-336-5359 or 704-588-5224.
