DELINQUENT TAXPAYERS TO BE ADVERTISED IN
THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

Charlotte, NC - Approximately 20,000 Mecklenburg County property owners have not yet paid their 2002 real and personal property tax bills and can now expect to see their names published in The Charlotte Observer.
The list of delinquent taxpayers is scheduled for publication in the newspaper on Sunday, April 13. Each tax bill published will be charged an additional $1.50 for the cost of the advertisement. That is in addition to interest charged for late payment. Any 2002 tax bill paid after January 7, 2003, is charged 2% interest for the month of January and ¾ % interest for each month thereafter until the bill is paid.
Checks should be made payable to the City-County Tax Collector and mailed to the City-County Tax Collector's Office, P.O. Box 32247, Charlotte, NC 28232-2247. Taxpayers can also pay online or by phone with a credit card. To pay online, go to the Web site
www.co.mecklenburg.nc.us/cotax. To pay by telephone, call toll-free 1-877-533-0072. There is a convenience fee assessed when using the credit card option. Credit card payments will not be accepted at the Tax Collector's office.
Taxpayers can also click on the Office of Tax Collector page of the Web site to see the status of their payment and access information about real estate and personal property. The site also includes a list of delinquent real estate and personal property taxpayers that is updated daily.
