COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S DAY

Charlotte, N.C.-Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, for Christmas and on Thursday, January 1, for New Year’s Day.  This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and Land Use and Environmental Services.

The Health Department clinics will be closed on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26, and for New Year’s Day on Thursday, January 1.  Please note that Evening Clinic will be held on Monday both weeks.

Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Services Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (336-CARE or 336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

The Main Library and library branches will be closed on December 25 and 26 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year’s.  Please note that all libraries will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 31.

All Solid Waste Management administrative offices and Metal and Tire Recovery will be closed on Thursday, December 25, Friday, December 26 and Thursday, January 1.  The Foxhole Landfill and the Recycling and Yard Waste facilities will be closed on December 25, open on December 26, and closed January 1.  Compost Central will be closed on December 25, open 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on December 26 and open 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on January 1.

The Park and Recreation Department’s administrative offices will be closed on December 25 and 26 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year’s Day.  All parks will open at 1:00 p.m. on December 25, and open regular hours December 26 and January 1.  All recreation centers will be closed on December 25, open holiday hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) on December 24, 26 and January 1.  Nature centers will be closed on December 25 and operate holiday hours on December 24, 26, December 31 and January 1.  The Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will be closed on December 25, and operate holiday hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) December 24, 26, 31 and January 1.  Ray’s Splash Planet will be closed on December 25, and operate holiday hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) December 24, 26, 31, and January 1.
