NEW OFFICE PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL AND ZONING SERVICES TO SOUTHERN TOWNS

Charlotte, NC - Mecklenburg County's Land Use and Environmental Services Agency is now staffing an office in Matthews to provide residential and zoning services to customers in the southern part of the County.

LUESA South is located in the Matthews Town Hall, 234 Matthews Station Street, Matthews, NC 28105. The phone number is 704-814-0435.  Information about residential building permits and inspections can also be accessed at www.meckpermit.com.

With the completion of Interstate 485 and the continued development of southern Mecklenburg County, the Towns of Mint Hill, Matthews and Pineville have seen a growth in the need for residential and zoning services. That is why Mecklenburg County and the southern towns agreed to partner to open an office in the southern part of the County.

LUESA South will provide a variety of services for residents, business owners, developers and contractors. Those services include:

· Residential Building Permits
· Residential Technical Answer Center
· Housing Code Compliance
· Zoning Permits and Inspections

In September 2003, Mecklenburg County's LUESA opened an office in Cornelius to provide services to fast-growing northern sectors of the County.  The LUESA North and South Offices illustrate the commitment of the County to addressing customer needs, as well as the needs of the Towns.

LUESA provides services aimed at contributing to the quality of life in Mecklenburg County.  That is achieved by increasing collaboration between the environmental sector and the business community and encouraging them to work together to develop guidelines for air, water and land quality. LUESA has 560 employees and a budget of more than $50 million.
