COUNTY ANNOUNCES CLOSINGS FOR
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY

Charlotte, N.C.-Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, January 20, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  This includes all units of the Department of Social Services, the Tax Office, the Elections Office, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Land Use and Environmental Services Department.

The Health Department clinics will be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Department of Social Services Care Line (336-CARE or 336-2273) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and elderly or disabled adults.

Mecklenburg County Substance Abuse Center (Detox) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Main Library and Library branches will be closed on Monday, January 20.

The Solid Waste Management administrative offices and solid waste facilities will be closed on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 20 with the exception of the Foxhole Landfill, which will operate normal hours.

The Park and Recreation Department's administrative offices will be closed on January 20. However, County parks and recreation centers, the Aquatic Center, Ray's Splash Planet and the Nature Centers will be open regular hours for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
