APRIL 1 IS FINAL DAY TO REGISTER FOR
CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG SENIOR GAMES

Park & Rec Recruiting Volunteers to Staff the Games

Charlotte, NC - The final day for seniors to register for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Games is April 1, 2003. The games are open to seniors in Gaston, Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties age 55 or better.  The cost is $15. Applications and information are available at all Mecklenburg County Recreation Centers or by calling 704-332-4020 and leaving a message.

Volunteers of all ages are also encouraged to come and help out.  Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation needs volunteers to keep score, set up facilities, present awards, register participants, and enjoy the atmosphere of team spirit.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Games will take place April 23 - May 9, 2003, at Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation facilities, UNC Charlotte and other locations. The games will kick-off with a "Celebration of the Games" at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Medal winners will be invited to participate in the Senior Games State Finals held in Raleigh in the fall.  Medal winners in the State Finals are invited to the National Games, held at various locations around the nation.

Athletes can participate in a wide variety of athletic events, or in one of many visual, heritage, literary, and performing arts. The following athletic events are offered, as well as opportunities to train:
